In creating my final piece corresponding to the them of memories. My final idea of the piece was to show how overtime memories can be seen through many different dimensions such as 2D and 3D and that also a powerful memory can also be remembered in a simplified way,

The client who commissioned me for this outcome was chestnut grove school; the idea was to make a window installation which could break the boundaries of a relief, by interestingly documenting my summer holiday.

In creating my experiment I looked at a range of other artists. thus being mainly Peter Callesen and also David Brownings, both artist being similar natured in dealing with the techniques they use. i took into consideration of their art style by making my outcome quite a simplified piece however making clear reference to the theme of memories, i have tried to combined both simple shapes such  as geometric shapes such as squares and triangles along side more detailed shapes such as the human face. i also however instead of using paper, i used polyboard instead as it was much stronger than paper and posed less of an insignificance unlike the paper which kept on tearing

The artist from the LIFT project did influence my work as they provided insight of conceptualising art. Although I experimented with various methods of art whilst they was with us I didn’t get to use all of them however it was extremely useful in broadening my outlook of art. The main influence out of these artists was Edward George who played a significant role in my method of documentation. I really like his concept of how everything is an archive which allowed me to collect an extensive range of primary sources which link to all my senses.

Overall, I think my outcome was a success as I was able to create a balance between conventional arts which include sculptures and drawings and  an unconventional art which was the meaning behind the actual piece.

my first initial response to his work was quite a humorous response as this particular artist in some ways goes against many other artists.

Materials and Processes


It is apparent that the artist has used coloured paper and card to construct these fascinating pieces that reflect his personality in a simplified way, also the use of the squares hint at a cubism aspect due to the geometric shapes used throughout his work.

in his work i can see a range of colours and shape perhaps the artist used the simple colours and shapes as a metaphor for a deeper meaning.Comparing Brownings work Peter Callesen's, it is evident that there is  a clear contrast between there work as Callesen's is much more realistic and detailed in and enlists a series of cuts and folds where as Browning's art work is very much so simplified and cartoon like.

however there is also a clear link between Brownings and Callesan as the both use paper however for much different meanings.

here i have made my own simplified version of my house which makes reference to david brownings and his paper sculpture based with geometrical shapes.

i have done this through the use of a 3D program called Cinema 4D
